'If you touch one thing with deep awareness, you touch everything.' Thich Nhat Hanh

Yogastyles

There are many diverse styles of yoga, and I have received training in various disciplines. However, my primary focus is on Yin Yoga and Restorative Yoga. I take particular joy in teaching the quieter, more meditative styles. Regardless of the style, I always teach with a foundation of joy and compassion. My teaching approach can be best described as meditative, joyful, and heartfelt.

Yin Yoga

Yin Yoga is rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and is a slow-paced, meditative practice where the muscular body is relaxed, and poses are held for extended periods. This passive approach targets the fascia (connective tissue) and other less elastic areas of the body. In addition to its physical benefits, Yin Yoga emphasizes the energetic body, promoting balance and harmony in the meridians (energy pathways), which are the same as those used in acupuncture. This practice helps foster mental and emotional equilibrium as well. Yin Yoga is especially beneficial for individuals with active, yang-oriented lifestyles and offers a reflective practice that encourages mindful responses to life's challenges. It not only promotes physical flexibility but also cultivates mental flexibility.

Restorative Yoga

Restorative Yoga focuses on deep relaxation and the restoration of energy. It is a practice of “being” rather than “doing.” With the body fully supported in each pose, this practice allows the nervous system to calm and the body to rest deeply. By turning inward, participants can connect with the natural rhythm of the breath and heartbeat, facilitating physical and mental healing. Through deep rest, one can experience renewed balance and energy.

Rest is often viewed as a luxury, though it is essential to overall well-being. Restorative Yoga is an excellent practice for those with active lifestyles, as it provides an opportunity to rest and recharge. It is particularly beneficial for individuals experiencing stress or burnout. This practice is accessible to everyone and can be therapeutic for various physical and mental health concerns.

For personalized 1-on-1 sessions, I create customized plans tailored to individual needs and preferences. These sessions are especially beneficial for individuals recovering from burnout, post-COVID recovery, or healing from surgery, as well as for those seeking targeted therapeutic support.

Mindfulness

In my yoga classes, mindfulness is an integral part of the practice. I weave it into each session, guiding you to connect more deeply with your breath, body, and the present moment. Whether we're flowing through poses or settling into stillness, I encourage you to move with awareness, paying attention to how you feel both physically and mentally.

Through mindful movement and intentional breathing, my aim is to help you cultivate a sense of inner calm and clarity, allowing you to carry that mindfulness beyond the mat and into your daily life. Each class becomes a space to not only strengthen the body but also to nurture a deeper connection to yourself and the present.
